What got you out running/walking for the first time?
I wrestled most of my life, so running was always part of the conditioning. Wayyyyy back then, and through college, I would run 3-5 miles at a time, with no more than 10 miles per week. One day I woke up and decided to do a marathon on a trail. That kicked my butt. So naturally, I decided to run a 50k a few months after that. Been hooked to the grind ever since. That was less than 3 years ago.
What’s a song that helps pick up your pace?
I have two: Zack Hemsey, “Vengeance” and Metallica, “Fade to Black”. Those songs never let me down.
What is the race medal you are most proud of and why?
I am proud of them all. They all have their own challenges. However, with that said, the Dipsea stands out. It was 2 weeks after RIO 100 and it was a struggle. I like the struggle! While we didn’t get a medal, the hat, shirt, and experience will never be forgotten. Let’s go Dipsea 2022!
