What got you out running/walking for the first time?

I started running to cross-train for mountain biking it didn’t take too long before I was running all the places i used to ride.

What is the race medal you are most proud of and why?

My first Modesto Marathon I went from barely able to run 6 miles in June to finishing a marathon in March.

What is your dream race or location for a run?

Kalalau Trail on Kauai but truthfully the list is endless the Rockies, the alps the cascades there are so many incredible trails but I am really drawn to trails along cliffs.

What is your favorite trail to run?

The equestrian trail at Hew Hogan’s south shore it’s 8 miles of  single track, rolling hills, a fair amount of shade also a short section along a cliff   

What’s your favorite race distance?

Half marathon 

What’s the funniest thing that has happened to you or that you have seen on the trail?

Oddest thing I have seen on the trail was a microwave oven at red hills it was sitting in front of a tree at least a couple miles from the nearest road I spent the rest of the run pondering how it got there.

What do you enjoy doing when you’re not running? 

Starting stupid projects in the garage and spending time with family

Who are your running heroes? Who inspires you?

I feel truly blessed to be in such an amazing running community. I have run in lots of locations in California. I haven’t found any place as friendly and engaging as here. as for who inspires me I just need to look at the tables at Fusio’s after we run on Thursday nights.

Describe the moment you realized you were a “runner”.

The day I went to take a ride on my mountain bike and both tires were flat.

What are your goals?

Getting a 50k done this year but I say that every year so I am staying consistent.

 What’s your favorite beer (or other drink if you don’t drink beer)?

Delirium Tremens is my all-time favorite but last year I was traveling for work and I found that just about everywhere I went there were amazing craft breweries and most nights I found a new temporary favorite.
