What got you out running/walking for the first time?

Some fun folks encouraged me to join a couple of local groups. With DB I learned my running limits were self-imposed. Figuring out that I love trail running unlocked a lot of joy and amazing friendships.

What’s a song that helps pick up your pace?

I prefer to run sans earbuds, but when I started out, “Use Somebody,” by Kings of Leon was my jam.

What is the race medal you are most proud of and why?

My first Marathon. I decided to do it only a couple of days prior and had never ran over 15 miles. I was also proud of Skyline to the Sea 50k for the opposite reason, I trained hard to prepare.

What is your dream race or location for a run?

I would like Kristi Engle and Mario Rodriguez to team up and design me a custom urban adventure somewhere beachy.

What is your favorite trail to run?

Back in the day, there was no better than Chabot Equestrian to Drake’s with Chad, Jeff, Thomas, and the rest of the OG’s.

What’s your favorite race distance?

I like to change it up.

What’s the funniest thing that has happened to you or that you have seen on the trail?

Having my infant twins delivered to me at the Mill Valley turnaround point of the Double Dipsea, so that I could nurse them. Race-related road closures plus an unexpected hike up from the parking lot carrying them, made this timing very difficult. I have no doubt that hubby had an equally challenging day, crewing me with two infants in tow.

What do you enjoy doing when you’re not running?

Traveling, dancing, basketball, camping, reading, and gardening.

Who are your running heroes? Who inspires you?

Nile, Jeff, Ana, Sukhy, Monica, John, Chad, Laura, the Turners, Leslie, Rod, Stacy, Gary, Dale, Jerome, Sandy, Juan, Thomas, Gina, Mario, Rod, John, Randi, Peter, Tami, Christina, Laura, John, Heidi, Daren, Marc, Heather, Polly, Tracy, Leslie, Rita, Rick, Nicol, Kim, Ling, Verlee, Dave, Tania, Beth, Sheri, Taide, Jesse, Kristi, Dave, Susan, Cathy, Annette, Jen, Heidi, Mike, Root, Rocio, Juliana, Nancy, Jamie, Karen, Jeff, Chrys and Rosemary.

Describe the moment you realized you were a “runner”.

The first time I turned in early, in order to voluntarily get out of my warm bed, before sunrise, in freezing temps, to knock out a long run.

What are your goals?

I’d love to be able to continue to run in some form, forever.

What’s your favorite beer (or other drink if you don’t drink beer)?

Lagunitas & most hoppy West Coast IPAs. My local fave is Track 424.
