What got you out running/walking for the first time?

I always enjoyed walking my dog around the neighborhood and I thought to myself, “why not run this distance instead?” I always enjoyed being outside so I just started doing that with the goal to get healthier and to improve my fitness level. I did a lot of hiking before simply because I enjoy nature and exploring. I also secretly wished I could join the track team in middle school and high school but never did.

What’s a song that helps pick up your pace?

Gosh, I don’t really have a favorite song, but I really like electronic music.

What is the race medal you are most proud of and why?

I really like the Berkley Fun Trail run medal. It’s pretty chill. It was my first 6,000-foot elevation run.

What is your dream race or location for a run?

One day, I hope to do the Tahoe 200. Have to start with the 100 first though!

What is your favorite trail to run?

I love the skyline to the sea trail. It’s very relaxing and shady. I feel at home there. I also really like Pleasanton Ridge because it has angry hills that make me want to cry.

What’s your favorite race distance?

I really like doing 50k runs. I think 31 miles is a good distance. It’s long enough to feel challenging but short enough to make it a not all day sort of event.

What’s the funniest thing that has happened to you or that you have seen on the trail?

I recently finished a marathon and on the ride home, I realized I was wearing my shorts inside out the whole time. No one noticed and if they did they didn’t say anything. Oops…

What do you enjoy doing when you’re not running?

I like trying to catch up on my videogames, hiking, and spending time with my boyfriend and my dogs/cats.

Who are your running heroes?

The ones whom do not give up and continue to overcome obstacles to become better runners.

Who inspires you?

Everyone in this running club inspires me. I really like watching everyone come together and do their best to complete their run/goals.

Describe the moment you realized you were a “runner”.

I guess I realized I was a runner when I could finally run 3 miles consistently. That made me feel pretty good.  Then I found some ultra running youtube videos and I realized there was so much more…

What are your goals?

My goals are to continue improving and learning about new running skills, ideas, courses, etc. even if I don’t always like them. Like Fourmidable. I’m not really looking forward to the wet and cold run but I’m going to do it!!!!

What’s your favorite beer (or other drink if you don’t drink beer)?

I love smoothies and Gatorade after a nice long run. Mostly smoothies though 🙂
