What got you out running/walking for the first time?
My Baldy (my Husband, David). David kept asking me to give running a chance (I hated running). I finally agreed and I ended up really enjoying running with my SC Wrockers group led by Coach Jerome.
What’s a song that helps pick up your pace?
Look Out Weekend by Debbie Deb or Suavemente by Elvis Crespo.
What is the race medal you are most proud of and why?
The Modesto Marathon, my first and only full marathon that I’ve completed…so far.
What is your dream race or location for a run?
I would love to do the St. Jude’s Half. The St. Jude’s organization is an organization that my mother-in-law started giving to many years before we lost her (not to cancer) and we’ve tried to continue to support St. Jude’s when we can so I think this would be a special race for me. Cancer Sucks!
What is your favorite trail to run?
I haven’t run too many different trails but I really enjoy running at Lake Chabot or the trails in Auburn.
What’s your favorite race distance?
What’s the funniest thing that has happened to you or that you have seen on the trail?
Everyone that has run with me knows I won’t go to the bathroom anywhere outdoors, I will hold it no matter what (I have a strong bladder). All my runny buddies have told me it’s not a big deal but could never convince me to do it. Well very recently we were getting ready to start my first snowshoeing experience and had to pee really bad (after having a big cup of coffee) and the porta-potty was locked, I had no choice but to head out behind a big tree (I was so nervous) but I had to do what I had to do. When I came out, I was so proud of myself and felt like I was finally one of them. It only took me 3 years to finally attempt it. I was successful and boy did it feel good afterward, LOL!
What do you enjoy doing when you’re not running?
Spending time with my grandkids. It really makes me feel good when people order my salsa so I enjoy making it for them. It makes my heart happy!
Who are your running heroes? Who inspires you?
Truthfully there are too many people to name that inspire me. I just know that I have a lot of special people currently in my life that have gotten me out of my comfort zone and because of them I’ve done things I never imagined doing.
Describe the moment you realized you were a “runner”.
Finishing my very first half marathon and seeing my husband, kids, and some of my grandkids there at the finish line. Seeing how proud they were of me was the best feeling ever.
What are your goals?
To keep running no matter what distance for as long as I physically can.
What’s your favorite beer (or other drink if you don’t drink beer)?
Blue Moon or Cali Squeeze Blood Orange
