What got you out running/walking for the first time?

Jay – Midlife crisis marathon. Maybe even a Nike commercial. 

Carrie – Mid-life spare tire.

What’s a song that helps pick up your pace?

Jay – Thunderstruck by AC/DC! Rock on!

Carrie – He always says that

What is the race medal you are most proud of and why?

Jay – Luc’s Run, because the age group medal is a gold fighter jet!

Carrie – My pile of DLF participation medals

What is your dream race or location for a run?

Carrie and Jay:  Forest single track without too many mosquitos.  And beer at the end.

What is your favorite trail to run?

Carrie and Jay: Trails are like children, you shouldn’t have a favorite. And,  just like children they have something to teach us.

What’s your favorite race distance?

Carrie and Jay: All race distances! We salute everyone who toes the line for any/every distance.

What’s the funniest thing that has happened to you or that you have seen on the trail?

Jay – The look on Jeff Rowe’s face when the he released there Red Hills Ranger saw us marking trail for the Ramble. Jeff didn’t have a permit for the event! Ha! Ha! Ha! Sorry Jeff!

Carrie – the year I missed the finish line at the Old Mill Run in Columbia and did a Gump straight out Shaw’s Flat toward Big Hill

What do you enjoy doing when you’re not running? 

Jay – Building and maintaining trails

Carrie – Honestly he likes that way more than running

Who are your running heroes? Who inspires you?

Jay – Anyone who laces up their shoes and turns the doorknob!

Describe the moment you realized you were a “runner”.

Jay – All humans are runners it’s our DNA. No excuses!

Carrie – When I gave in and ordered a pair of Altras.

What are your goals?

Jay: To be a reliable volunteer to trail running, bike riding, and trail building events. The number of people that say they’ll show-up and work but don’t show-up, or even communicate, is amazing to me. Do some trail work and show the F**k up people!

Carrie: World peace and universal acceptance. And beer.

 What’s your favorite beer (or other drink if you don’t drink beer)?

Yes
